I come from a very
large, military family. When I asked Dad what was the WORST thing about war... he answered: "Being away from my
Mother for two Christmases..."
BELOW: My Mother's Brothers; my Uncle, Petty Officer Ernest Cooper, pictured below left, served in the Navy during World War
2, and my Uncle, Lt. Colonel Curtis Cooper, pictured below right (my middle name is Curtis after him) served in the Army during
World War 2, leading his troops through the battle of the bulge, and finally mowing down a highway sized path through the
dense Black Forest of Germany. This allowed Allied tanks to drive directly into Berlin, helping bring peace back to it's good
people.
Uncle Curtis was also part of
Project Trinity, code name of the first nuclear weapons test which was conducted by the United States Army on July 16,
1945. The date of this test is considered to be the beginning of the Atomic Age.
I learned how to work effectively and accomplish consistently by their example
and teaching. My sincere thanks to them for their faithful service, to my cousins and other friends who are currently
serving, and to everyone who has served our great nation honorably.
